This week as I was making a new center for name activities, I was mulling over the problem of students getting materials mixed up at the centers. How could I make it easier to keep things sorted?
I thought about coding the materials somehow. But with what? Ahhh, the universal tool of all preschool teachers. Stickers! And guess what? They worked!!
Here’s how: you code the container of each activity’s materials with a particular sticker, as well as the items that belong to it. This has been a great way for the students to help keep items organized, and it provides an easy math activity on the side, as the students are sorting things that are alike. It is wonderful when you can connect clean-up time with an academic activity!
I’d love to know how other teachers keep their rooms organized. Please share!!
