We’ve progressed from lines to cubism in art class now, and are focusing on Pablo Picasso.

“Getting to Know the World’s Greatest Artists” is a series that I love to use. It does a great job on Pablo!

After we read the book, we explored some of his artwork … right in my classroom. How? With calendar prints!! The famous artists are always collected in calendars. Check the clearance shelves at the bookstore for out-of-date calendars that you can cut pictures from. Gold!!!

I also found the perfect video about Picasso that the kids loved (it even has a spiritual reference!). Next, thanks to the website Art Projects for Kids, we made self portraits, cubism style!!!

Art is spiritual. It comes from our hearts … spirits … God. Celebrate art by sharing it with your kids, whether you teach it or not. It’s what walls were made for!!! 🙂
