It food drive time again … and our preschoolers alone have collected 160 cans!!!
Every October the elementary Catholic schools help Alleman High School collect food for area food pantries. It’s a wonderful time to talk with the children about helping one another when we are in need. Jesus fed the hungry, too!
It’s also a wonderful way to support one of the ministries we Benedictine Sisters are active in. Every Friday a group of 4 Sisters help distribute food at the food pantry. I love to go when I can (although it’s rare, when I teach). It’s neat to think maybe one of our 160 cans will end up on the shelves – and in the clients’ bags – where our sisters minister.
The kids love the food drive for another reason. If they collect 100 cans or more, they get to wear their PJs to school. Guess we’ll be seeing lots of PJs around here next Tuesday!
