Our 2nd grade art class is learning about tinting and shading right now, by creating backdrops of the night sky for their Christmas nativity scenes. Beautiful!
We learned that tint is any color plus white and that shade is any color plus black in a useful video. Then it was time to practice!
We used egg cartons and cardboard for our paints and paint mixing surface. We made beautiful shades and tints of blue.
Then we painted our night skies with concentric circles that started blue and got progressively lighter till the small white center. We did the opposite as we worked our way out till we reached a dark night sky.
Next week we will add our nativity silhouette. Can’t wait!!! ❤
