Spring Break!

stef-and-mackenzieAfter a beautiful Easter day at the monastery, I’ve gone to Dubuque to visit my family for spring break (that’s my little sis Mackenzie with me).

We’ve been to Mineral Point and to Yellowstone State Park in nearby Wisconsin. Great spots, great fun!!!

I miss my students but will see them again on Monday. Really, I can’t wait!

A Cello for Jesus (and the QCSO)

celloTo help the Quad City Symphony celebrate their 100th Anniversary this year, Grace – and another 99 organizations around the community – decorated a cello. In fact, Grace’s youngest students – preschool through 2nd grade – decorated it!

Of course, we had to start the project by learning what, exactly, a cello is. We watched a video with Yo Yo Ma (who will be playing with the QCSO this May).

A Happy “Nun”!

story-time2Last week we celebrated Catholic Schools Week, one of the favorite weeks of the school year for the kids. The extra activities are fun and different … even if we teachers miss our regular schedules just a tiny bit. 🙂

My schedule was double different. Not only did we do things to celebrate in my classroom, I visited kindergartners and 1st-graders at Jordan Catholic School in Rock Island, Ill. My goal? To introduce them to the idea of a religious vocation. Continue Reading
