People told me I wouldn’t miss teaching religion, now that I’m an art teacher. Pshaw. I not only love teaching “Jesus Time,” I insert it into everything I do!
Why? Because Jesus is the reason we’re here!!!!! Continue Reading

Today was the first day of school and it felt very strange not to be knee deep in preschoolers!
The bad news is that I miss those little faces. But the good news is I could be outside with the other students to watch them begin the day.
It was delightful! π Continue Reading
We are back in teacher meetings this week. Seems like summer just started!!!
Several things have changed since I last posted here. For one thing, I accepted the position of vocation director for the monastery. That means I will spend time with women who are inquiring into religious life. If you are one of them, that means YOU!!!! π Continue Reading
Whew! July has been a very busy month, with 3 conferences and a visit with my family up in Dubuque. All of it was wonderful, but I am so glad to be back home and getting ready for school! π
St. John Bosco is helping me. He wrote, “It is not enough that young people are loved. They must know that they are loved.” Continue Reading
Or at least it did today, in our dining room.:)
During the school year, I’m never home during the day for events featuring speakers or performers. Usually the only Sisters who attend are our elders and those who work in administration. And I rarely am home for Mass (I go with my class at school). Continue Reading

I’ll miss every one of them!!!
I’ll miss the excitement and joy that only a preschooler can offer. Continue Reading
Our last field trip this year was to the public library. It was only 4 blocks away, so we walked. YAY! No struggling with car seats!!! π Continue Reading

Can you believe it? School’s almost over again. Every year I feel the same way. How can time go so fast???
Of course it doesn’t go fast for the preschoolers. They live in the moment (as we all should, at least more than we do).
Today one of my little ones underscored the reason I love teaching in a Catholic school … and miss it so much over the summer! She looked deep in thought on the playground.
My teacher associate, Mrs. Sierra, asked her what she was thinking about. She said “Jesus’ love for me.”
That just made my day. It’s why I LOVE teaching in a Catholic school. Helping the kids feel Jesus’ love, and helping them understand what Jesus wants them to do – love and serve each other – is what it’s all about!!! π
Each May I teach my little preschoolers about the Rosary.
We have learned the Our Father and Hail Mary, so we’re in good shape!
I always start by pulling out the beautiful Rosary that our Benedictine Sisters used to wear as part of their habit.
It’s wonderful to share a piece of my life that way! Continue Reading
